Assists English language learners in career/technical pathways to achieve success and attain certificates or degrees. Course emphasizes subject terminology, concepts, and related literacy/numeracy skills in a college setting, as well as college system navigation and strategies for student success.

Course Learning Outcomes

Core Topics

 

  1. Develop mastery of key terminology or vocabulary, concepts, and tasks particular to the student’s chosen I-BEST program.
  2. Develop sound academic practices for success in career and technical programs, to include organization, time management, stress management, and college navigation skills.
  3. Reinforce basic skills concepts in reading, writing, and oral communication pertaining to concurrently enrolled career and technical program instruction and assignments, in cooperation with the appropriate workforce education or allied health instructor(s).
