Description

An overview of the culture and culture areas inhabited by the Sahaptian and Salish nations of the Plateau Region. A historical and contemporary view of the life ways, including Indian/non-Indian relations, adaptations and effects of contact on the Salish and Sahaptian cultures in the Plateau Region.

Demonstrate a basic knowledge of the cultures and the culture areas inhabited by the Sahaptian and Salish Nations in the Plateau Region.

Understand and appreciate the First Peoples governmental, economic, social, and value systems.

Understand the historical relations and reasons for conflicts and/or misunderstandings between the First Peoples and the newcomers to the Plateau region.

Understand the pre-history of the First Peoples.

Describe the diversity of life ways among the twelve Nations.
