Description

Provides an introduction to computer-aided three-dimensional modeling technology used by designers in various disciplines including industrial design, graphic design, web design, game design, sculpture, and animation.

Course Learning Outcomes

Demonstrate an understanding of how Design software is used to assist the development of creative designs.

Critique their own creative designs and give support to others through constructive analysis.

Customize their modeling environment.

Create basic graphics objects. Model with precision using Cartesian & Polar coordinates, and snaps.

Modify NURBS (non uniform rational B splines) geometry for curves and surfaces.

Analyze their model quantitatively.

Display their model from any view or perspective & render their model.

Export & import their model in a variety of formats to communicate across industry platforms.

Core Topics

Teaches the basic digital skills of using Rhino 4.0 and/or Tsplines dimensional design programs.
Explores the initial process of applying these basic skills to create polished, professional looking designs, drawings, and presentations.
Class projects explore the many digital options each application provides for creating complex models, hand rendered & computer rendered images.
