Description

Study of industry-standard software and how to integrate these programs into seamless communication, while producing works that conform to design principles and client expectations. Learn essential graphic-design terminology and continue developing knowledge and skills through advanced, hands-on projects implementing vector illustrations, page layouts, image manipulation and typography.

Course Learning Outcomes

Illustrate a firm understanding of how the Adobe Creative Suite programs are used in concert to develop creative and polished graphic design solutions of marketing, communications problems.

Be highly skilled in the use of Creative Suite programs at both technical and artistic levels.

Demonstrate their mastering of how and when graphic design software is used to assist the development of creative designs.

Understand the value of a thorough graphic design process where multiple layout ideas are explored and refined—from thumbnail sketches to finished presentation comprehensives.

Critique their own creative design and give support to others through constructive layout analysis.

Be able to work with and create text, photos and montages, and original illustrations.

Create complex layouts that use combinations of vector and bit-mapped art.

Teaches the basic digital skills of using Adobe Creative Suite: InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop.
Explores the initial process of applying these basic skills to create polished, professional looking layouts, photographs and illustrations.
Complex class projects explore the many digital options each application provides for creating professional-quality photographs, illustrations and comprehensive layouts.
