Description

Introduction to the history, methods, materials, skills and equipment for creating ceramic design. Work in hand methods, wheel throwing, glazing and firing.

Have developed practical, technical, and creative skills that result in functional and non-functional clay objects.

Have devised problem-solving strategies on a multi-level basis (integrating practical, theoretical and physical) for dealing with materials, methods and equipment.

Have a general understanding of artists and development of ceramics in the history of art.

Display development of studio skills for working in clay including hand-building and wheel-throwing techniques, glazing and firing.

Have an understanding of the way that geology, chemistry and physics interact in the creation of a clay object.
