Analyze and apply the principles of color observation (including local, illuminant, shadow and reflected colors) at a beginning-level.

Analyze and apply the principles of color interpretation (various limited color palettes) at a beginning-level.

Analyze and apply the principles of composition observation (including figure-ground continuities, active and passive shapes, overlapping, selection and planar location) at a beginning-level.

Analyze and apply the principles of composition interpretation (including regrouping, shifting center and modulation) at a beginning-level.

Demonstrate familiarity with traditional and contemporary watercolor materials and processes (including layering, wet-on-wet, wet-on-dry and dry brush) and visual presentation (including compositional cropping, matting and framing)

Demonstrate a general understanding of artists and the development of watercolor in the history of art
