Continued study in the materials, cultural styles and techniques of Native American beading. Seven colors for Peyote stitch and flatwork with student-researched designs.

Course Learning Outcomes

Recognize patterns and colors used by different tribes and geographic areas.

Utilize five to seven colors in a design researched and applied to a pouch, barrette, buckle, or medallion.

Demonstrate advanced edging techniques.

Analyze and translate patterns into beaded designs at an intermediate-level.

Learn and use vocabulary unique to Native American beading, its materials and techniques.

Demonstrate a general understanding of the cultural values and responsibilities related to traditional Native American beadwork and design.
