Description

This simulation course will give students the opportunity to demonstrate and apply nursing skills and clinical judgment to scenarios in perinatal and infant health and psychological and mental health. This course is taken concurrently with NURS 402 and NURS 404.

Apply therapeutic communication techniques in care practices with patients, emphasis on those experiencing common maladaptive thoughts and behaviors.

Demonstrate collaborative leadership in simulated scenarios

Plan, implement, and evaluate a relapse prevention plan for patients experiencing a severe and persistent psychiatric disorder.

Prioritize care strategies for patients experiencing comorbid health states.

Demonstrate safe clinical judgment with patients in a simulated environment.

Organize safe and effective nursing interventions for patients and families in simulated scenarios.

Core Topics

Simulation activities will focus on exemplars in nursing concepts, in coordination with NURS 402 and NURS 404.
