Description

Principles, processes and practices of interpersonal communication to appropriately and effectively communicate in given situations. Focus is on perception of self and others, including diversity, verbal and non-verbal cues, and strategies for understanding and improving interpersonal relationship dynamics.

Understand the theoretical grounding for the communication process and interpersonal communication competence.

Identify the effect of internal perception of self on external perception of others in interpersonal and intercultural interactions.

Analyze the interplay of verbal language and nonverbal cues in interpersonal interactions.

Assess and apply strategies for improving communication climates, including active listening, relationship building and conflict management.

Active listening as an integral part of information exchange and meaning transfer.
