Description

An introduction to applied electricity in the industrial trades, this course discusses basic alternating (AC) and direct (DC) current, transformers, motors, relays, reactance, electrical power generation and power distribution systems.

Course Learning Outcomes

Apply the principles of basic electricity.

Identify components of basic electrical and electronic circuits.

Identify similarities between alternating current (AC) and direct current (DC).

Accurately and safely use various electrical test meters.

Determine and/or improve A/C circuit power factor

Apply Ohm’s Law, Watt’s Law and RLC Circuit principles to determine circuit potential, current, power and/or resistance.

Identify and construct parallel or series circuits.

Differentiate various single and three phase a/c motor winding configurations.
