Description

An introductory course in which students will investigate the connection between society, physical activity, overall health, wellness, and the bodies physiological processes. The course also provides students with in-class laboratory experiences in which heart rate, strength, muscular endurance and flexibility assessments will be taught and practiced.

  1. Analyze the physiological requirements of sport activities, including the energy, cardiorespiratory, and neuromuscular components.
  2. Assess the physiological condition level of an individual, including cardiorespiratory fitness, muscular strength and endurance, flexibility, body composition.
  3. Design appropriate strength and conditioning programs based upon the level of individual physiological condition.
  4. Understand the influence environment plays on exercise performance.
  5. Optimize sport performance through training, ergogenic aids, nutrition and body composition.
