Description

Designed to prepare students to implement environmental education opportunities in formal and non-formal education settings. Topics include history and philosophy of environmental education, experiential and placed based teaching pedagogy and environmental literacy. Students will critically examine environmental issues and explore ways in which to promote broader understanding of these issues.

Critically examine environmental issues and create environmental education curriculum & programs to deepen understanding of those issues.

Integrate instructional technology into environmental education settings.

Articulate the importance of stewardship and a healthy environment.

Plan for and manage inherent risks associated with the outdoor environment.

Identify unique place-based environmental education opportunities in North Central Washington.

Organize outdoor environmental programming including logistics, budgeting and curriculum.
