Description

Designed for students interested in acquiring and developing leadership and facilitation skills. Explore pedagogy, group dynamics, facilitation, risk-management and the art of sequencing group initiatives. Students will also be introduced to the operation of a variety of low and high challenge course initiatives.

Comprehend the history, philosophy, and research surrounding outdoor leadership and adventure programming.

Utilize outdoor leadership theory & pedagogy to develop outdoor & adventure programs.

Facilitate group initiatives, group dynamics & group processing

Demonstrate proper use and maintenance of technical equipment needed in Challenge Courses

Articulate current knowledge of Challenge Course industry practices and standards

Recognize the inherent risks involved in each activity including environmental (ie. weather, terrain), and human (ie. behaviors, maturity, physical ability, emotional state of participants) and adjust programming accordingly.

Coordinate and organize outdoor programming including logistics, communications and budgeting.
