Practical on-the-job training in a clinical setting. Rotation through the laboratory departments, practicing test performance under direct supervision of the laboratory's technologists or technicians.

Prerequisites

MLT 210 and concurrent enrollment in MLT 223

Course Learning Outcomes

Understand and demonstrate satisfactory competency in handling the general routine duties listed on the performance standards.

Show satisfactory ability to accurately, consistently and efficiently perform the laboratory tests and quality assurance tasks as listed on the performance standards.

Show skill in interacting politely, professionally and sensitively with patients and other members of the health care team as listed in the affective standards in the MLT Student Handbook.
