Description

Choral singing open to all students. No audition required, but contact with the director is required prior to participation. Basic vocal and choral techniques, vocalization, optional public concerts. Literature to include a diversity of styles ranging from classical to contemporary. May be repeated for credit.

Master to differing degrees proper vocal/choral techniques; namely,

<li>proper posture</li>
<li>breathing and production of tone</li>
<li>accurate pitch within a section and in relation to other sections</li>
<li>accurate execution of rhythmic figures in the same contexts</li>
<li>the ability to sing phrases</li>
<li>the ability to match vowel sounds</li>
<li>the ability to involve an audience in the music by the use of individual expression</li>

Continue to increase sight reading skills.

Continue to learn a diversity of musical styles and periods.

Continue to enrich their appreciation of choral literature though the singing thereof.

Have performed with a variety of accompaniments with greater appreciation for style and compositional structure.
