Description

This course provides knowledge and skills in supporting STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) in Early Learning environments. Curriculum integration of all four STEM content areas. Methods, assessment, materials, and vocabulary to use in individualized and developmentally appropriate STEM activities and experiences.

Define STEM and describe the similarities and differences between Science, Technology, Engineering and Math.

Identify Early Learning standards for STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math).

Discuss technology integration in Early Childhood Curriculum.

Plan lessons and activities that engage young children in active learning about STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math).

Identify effective strategies for involving and partnering with families in supporting STEM Home-School Connection.

Analyze the developmental foundation of scientific and mathematical understanding for young children.

Analyze the teaching and learning strategies of the process for development of math and science knowledge and understanding.

Analyze the learning implications of ages and developmental stages on children’s acquisition of math and science knowledge.

Continue to develop an understanding of the teacher’s role as guide in STEM (Science Technology, Engineering, Math) learning experiences.
