Description

This course refines the process of planning, writing, revising and editing essays. Professional writing using APA format will be covered. Other topics include use of print and electronic sources, note taking, credibility, fact and opinion, logic, avoidance of plagiarism and documentation.

Taking notes, summary, paraphrase, quotation, annotation, and avoiding plagiarism.
Evaluating sources for credibility (author, publisher, date of publication).
Organizing notes into an outline.
Composing the research essay, brief review (organization, logic and coherence, development, unity, structure) as function of content, and blending reference material into the essay with author citations and documentation.
