Description

Leadership development and training emphasizing leadership theory, team building, and practical application through simulations. Additionally, students will understand their individual leadership style strengths and weaknesses.

Course Learning Outcomes

The five types of leadership power: Legitimate, Reward, Coercive, Referent, and Expert;

Six models of leadership: Traits, Behavioral, Managerial grid, Leader-member Exchange, Contingency, and Transformational;

The formal assessment and characteristics of formal assessment models

Mentoring and coaching

Informal groups and functional work teams

The three team types: problem-solving, multidisciplinary, and self-managing

Team design, stages of team development, external controls of teams, and effectiveness criteria

The student’s personal leadership style

Analyze their personal leadership style

Participate in and evaluate team work.

Use a formal personnel assessment instrument
