Description

Second of two mathematics content courses for elementary education majors. Topics include properties and classification of two- and three-dimensional figures, measurement, angles, area, perimeter, volume, surface area, geometric constructions, similarity and congruence, transformations, the Pythagorean theorem, trigonometry, proportions, probability, counting, and descriptive statistics. Emphasis is placed on problem solving, mathematical reasoning, communication of ideas, spatial thinking, and analysis of common student difficulties in relation to Pre-K–8 mathematics standards.
