Description

Introduction to the principles of drawing from observation. Investigation of proportion, modeling and perspective with various drawing media.

Comprehend and apply the principles of visual measuring and proportioning, including regular grid systems and variable sighting procedures.

Comprehend and apply the principles of light and shadow, including light-shadow organizations on basic and complex volumes, and on various textural and material surfaces.

Comprehend and apply the geometric principles of perspective, including orthographic foreshortening and vanishing point systems.

Understand and utilize the principles of design and composition in making drawings.

Display studio skills with traditional drawing media and processes (including pencil, charcoal, conte crayon, pastel, and pen & ink).

Have a general understanding of artists and developments of drawing in the history of art.
