Description

Create a teaching portfolio with a collection of artifacts that represent the student-teaching. Make connections between artifacts and state and national standards for teachers. Reflect on the artifacts to improve teaching and develop professionally.

Prerequisites

Admission into the BAS-Teaching Program and minimum 2.0 on all previous 300- and 400-level ECED and EDUC courses.

Program Learning Outcomes
  1. Problem Solving: Graduates will be able to assess and analyze student learning and create learning experiences that demonstrate an understanding of how children learn and develop. Graduates will employ pedagogical knowledge in a variety of areas, including classroom management, teaching through experiential learning, and effective planning, to create inclusive learning environments.

  2. Communication: Graduates will be able to effectively and appropriately interact with students through oral and written communication. Graduates will be able to utilize oral and written communication skills to collaborate and interact with colleagues, parents, administration, and community members.

  3. Inquiry: Graduates will be able to research and apply current pedagogical theories, to include theories of language use and language acquisition with a specific focus on the language demand of academic content, to design curricula.
