Description

Introduction to programmable logic controllers (PLCs). Includes practical lab work on industrial PLC controls. Basic ladder logic programming skills and installation methods will be introduced. Students experiment with a PLC controller/simulator and mechanically controlled systems with physical inputs and outputs to reinforce concepts.

Demonstrate industry entry-level knowledge and skills regarding computerized controls for industrial electronic and refrigeration applications.

Solve elementary computerized control problems and relate these problem-solving practices to the areas of electronics and related industrial technology disciplines such as refrigeration and automotive technology.

Build simple computerized control ladder circuits.

Test and troubleshoot PLC and related controls.

Build simple DC digital logic circuits.
