Description

Introduces the student to an intermediate level of fabrication techniques such as measurement instrumentation, metal preparation, welding, machines (drills, saws, grinders, mills and lathes), and metal benders. Emphasis is placed on the safe use of tooling, pre-planning, and fabrication of structurally sound projects.

Course Learning Outcomes

Properly use measuring instruments such as dial indicators, protractors, scales, squares, levels, and micrometers in fabrication.

Plan and construct a challenging metal project.

Perform tasks related to metal fabrication in a productive and safe manner.

Safely use metal working equipment such as chop saws, grinders, welders, punches and torches, etc.

Build a useful manufacturing jig.
