Exhibit basic general laboratory knowledge including the following topics: safety, standard (universal) precautions, blood collection, collection and handling of laboratory specimens, pipetting, laboratory mathematics and spectrophotometry.

Demonstrate a fundamental grasp of quality assurance, and the common statistical tools used in the clinical laboratory.

Understand the fundamental principles of hemostasis and the tests used to monitor this system.

Demonstrate a grasp of immunoserology, and its use in diagnostic testing.

Acquire the elementary principles associated with the discipline of immunohematology, its use in patient evaluation and transfusion medicine.

Exhibit an initial level of understanding of the principles of medical microbiology, and their use in diagnosis and treatment.

Develop a basic grasp of clinical chemsitry and urinalysis testing and its relevance to body function and disease.
