Description

This course examines human sexuality from the psychological, biological, sociocultural and historical perspectives. Students will be encouraged to become aware of their own sexual attitudes, values and behaviors. By the end of the course, students will be able to communicate about sexuality with a greater degree of effectiveness.

Course Learning Outcomes

Understand human sexuality from historical and multicultural perspectives, while providing discourse to the future role of sexuality within culture, particularly US culture.

Define major theoretical perspectives that influence the scientific study of human sexuality, and from these, identify the main objectives of each.

Understand and communicate effectively about human sexuality, through applicable terminology and theoretical perspectives.

Understand the nature of sexual concerns, issues, and/or dysfunctions, as they relate to sexual education, therapy, and research.

Acquire insight into the nature of their own sexuality, as it relates to both a cultural and world view.
