Description

Continuation of ASL&222. Emphasizes increased fluency with ASL narratives and storytelling. Course focuses on specialized ASL vocabulary for survival/ social situations, organizational structures and conversational behaviors within the deaf community.

  1. Continued study of syntactic structure and its interaction with meaning.
  2. Conversational fluency on a variety of topics such as: money/finances, making major decisions, sharing opinions and expectations.
  3. Taking complex information, identifying important components and organizing information for output in ASL.
  4. Identifying key elements used to adapt written stories into ASL Developing, translating and performing a narrative in the target language.
  5. Learning to understand the deaf experiences related to identity development.
