In-depth training in the practical and theoretical subjects associated with clinical bacteriology, parasitology, mycology and virology.

BIOL& 260 and concurrent enrollment in MLT 220 and MLT 224

Demonstrate a thorough understanding of the basic concepts of laboratory safety and microbiological methods.

Demonstrate a detailed grasp of the basic concepts of bacterial identification and antibioic testing.

Show a firm grasp of the distribution of the normal and abnormal bacteria found throughout the human body.

Correctly identify fungal elements.

Correctly identify parasites.

Understand the fundamental techniques used in viral isolation and identification.

Exhibit a good understanding of the various ways by which bacteria acquire resistence to antimicrobials.

Exhibit a good understanding of the subject of Immunology, and the serologic tests used to assess health and disease exposur.e

Analyze a current topic in primary literature.
